Accommodations

Koen and Buys African Safaris has three main lodges from where we do most off our activities.

Skala Lodge – Lowveld, Limpopo

In the Lowveld of South Africa, Skala Lodge will be our guests’ home away from home. Situated between the two towns of Gravelotte and Hoedspruit, this lodge is all about atmosphere and luxury.
Nestled in between rocky hills and in close proximity to the Selati river that meanders through this large wilderness area. Our guests can experience all the beauty that Africa has to offer. Enjoy the stars like you have never seen before, hyenas playing, while lions are roaring in the distance all while sitting around a campfire, sharing stories and sipping on something to make your evening even more enjoyable. Not forgetting about the swimming pool for those warmer days in Africa.
Skala can accommodate 16 guests in our 8 luxury chalets, with all the amenities and comforts that guests could ever need and hope for. En suite bathrooms, private balconies and secluded settings helps to give our guest the African ambiance they long for.
This area is known for its abundance of plains and dangerous game and will be the perfect camp for first time or the more experienced hunters or travelers.
This lodge is only 30 minutes away from the Kruger National park and very nicely situated for our guest that might not be interested in hunting to enjoy all the attractions around Hoedspruit. Whether you would like to watch game from safari vehicles, from a boat on the Olifants river or from the sky in a hot air balloon, this lodge will be the place for you. With several spas, scenic tours and other wildlife attractions, every day will be a new memory in the making.
Skala lodge is only 45 minutes away from the Eastgate International airport and pick up and drop offs can easily be arranged for our guests.
Excellent cuisine and great service is always awaiting all our guests at Skala.

Matsuri Lodge – Bushveld, Limpopo

Moving further north to the Bushveld of South Africa, Koen and Buys African Safaris has a very exclusive concession on Matsuri. The lodge at Matsuri is situated on 7500ha (18500 acres) of prime hunting area. This bushveld area is one of the best plains game hunting areas in Africa. With species like Southern Impala, Southern greater kudu and Blue wildebeest roaming this area in great numbers.
The quality of animals in this area is just incredible and with perfectly situated bow blinds any bow hunters dream concession.
Accommodation on Matsuri is very comfortable and has a true bushveld atmosphere. The camp is placed between large Knob thorn trees with a waterhole in close proximity to the lodge that is frequently visited by many different bird and wildlife species. Matsuri lodge is completely off grid but has a full solar system to support the camp. En suite bathrooms in all the suites with full wifi coverage.
With friendly staff and a full time chef, hunting in the wilderness of Africa has never been this comfortable.

KwaZulu-Natal Mountain Lodge

All our hunting areas is not just situated in Limpopo but we also do hunts in Kwazulu Natal. In this breath-taking mountain area we concentrate on all our mountain and Highveld plains species. Situated in the East Grikwaland Mountains, our guests stay in a lovely sandstone cottage that easily sleeps 4 clients.
Overlooking a beautiful pond with the higher Drakensberg mountain peaks in the background. Being at this higher altitude the evenings can get somewhat cold so remember those thicker jackets.
This area is very special and most of the hunts we conduct here is on a free range basis and therefore the number of animals available for harvesting is strongly regulated by the South African nature conservation association.
Due to the open grasslands and high mountains this area is the perfect place to test a hunter’s longer range hunting equipment. All our Kwazulu Natal adventures will be hosted by professional hunter and co-host, Wayne Miller from Diliza Hunting
